Sep 29 2008 Town set to launch "Soccer Sisters" programme
Are you a girl between the ages of 7 and 11 years old and interested in playing the beautiful game then the F.A.I. Soccer Sisters programme may be for you?  Soccer Sisters is an F.A.I. Programme created under the “Introduction to football banner”, with the aim of increasing the number of girls playing soccer and utilising facilities countrywide.  It is also designed to attract new volunteers into soccer, i.e. Parents and Guardians.  Played at venues nationwide girls between the ages of 7-11 years can learn to play soccer in a fun, friendly, and safe environment, through a diverse programme.  The Children will be introduced to the basic movements and soccer skills. They will learn the disciplines and fundamental rules of the game and will also be encouraged to forge new friendships and develop interpersonal skills.  The Programme will be 1 hour a week for 10 weeks and will take place after school starting Friday 10th October inside in the Arklow Sports and Leisure Centre. Each participant will receive a specially designed Soccer Sisters jersey and coaching will be provided by F.A.I. qualified coaches. As a Club affiliated to the F.A.I., Arklow Town F.C. are delighted to co operate with the local F.A.I. Development Officers, Emma Martin and Paul Sheridan in helping to set up the programme.  All girls in the relevant age group are welcome space permitting of course. This is not a club specific Programme, it doesn’t matter if you play for a particular club in the Arklow area or have not kicked a ball in your life, all are welcome.  The information and registration meeting will take place in the Clubhouse of Arklow Town F.C.on Saturday 4th October at 10.15am. At this time parents can sign their children up for the programme and find out any other information.  The cost per child will be €30 to cover the 10 week Programme.
