Apr 26 Kavanagh strike sees Town into Wicklow Cup semi final
A finish from close range inside the last fifteen minutes of Town's Wicklow Cup quarter final clash at Fairwood Celtic from Willie Kavanagh was enough to see Town advance to the last four. Town, however, will need to vastly improve if to entertain any thoughts of lifting the cup this season after a largely forgetful game was arguably lit up with Kavanagh's late and somewhat controversial winner. Fairwood Celtic, even though resident in Division 3, looked the fitter side and more capable of coping with the poor nature of their pitch. Any football Town tried to play in the opening half was rendered nigh on impossible with the length of the grass in parts of the pitch bordering on the comical. However, it was the same for both sides and the home side, though rarely threatening Town's goal, were keen on upsetting the Premier Division side. Craig Ledwith went closest for Town in the opening half with a header. In the second half Town tried to open up a resolute Fairwood defence and as the game wore on they increasingly pushed forward. Twice the home side countered quickly and Town had to thank Wayne Murray for being alert to the danger on each occasion. With less than fifteen minutes remaining, Craig Ledwith jumped highest to direct a cross from the left wing into the path of Willie Kavanagh and the Arklow man directed home from close range, much to the annoyance of the home side who felt aggrieved over Kavanagh's finish.

Apr 12 Kenny shines as Town look up
Three very welcome points for Town's second team away at Enniskerry's Berrfyield Park earlier today. Town travelled to Enniskerry to face the division's bottom side knowing a win was essential in order to pull away from the relegation battle at the foot of the WDL Premier Division. Town opened strongly with GearĂ³id Redmond and Anto Kenny dominating the middle of the park but clear cut chances were few and far between. Just on the half hour mark, Town broke quickly down the open right flank and it was Kenny who dinked a superb lofted ball over the advancing keeper and beyond the reaches of the home defenders vainly trying to get to the ball before it nestled into the open goal. Town continued to press in the second half and should have been granted a second goal when a ball whipped in from Town's left wing eluded the home keeper and the ball was bundled over the line in the melee. However, no goal was given, with the referee waving play on. Town put the game beyond the home side with Mick Byrne netting Arklow's second, with fifteen minutes remaining, securing in the end a comfortable win.

Apr 7 Town rue missed chances
Arklow Town started brightly in wet and windy conditions at Finlay Park but it was the home side who took an early lead when a cross from their left winger somehow found its way over the head of Arklow's netminder, Chris Earls. Arklow pushed on and had good chances, first from Anthony Kenny and then Colm Harty to equalise but Wicklow closed the door, frustrating Town. Arklow finished the half the stronger and only for a good save from their keeper to stop Willy Kavanagh's goal-bound shot the teams would have been level at half time. The second half started badly for Arklow when a low cross from the left squeezed past Earls at the near post. Arklow pushed on and ten minutes later got caught on the break, making it 3-0 against the run of play it has to be said. Arklow were not to be outdone though and clawed a goal back when GearĂ³id Redmond fired home from close range. Town, playing good football, got another goal through substitute Sean Tolan, who found the back of the net from the edge of the box to get back within one goal. However, it was all in vain as Wicklow saw off Town to clinch the three points. Arklow can take a lot of heart from this performance as they next take on Enniskerry next Sunday in a six pointer match, now a must win game for both teams!
Mar 29 Town advance in Wicklow Cup
Arklow Town A's safely advanced to the next round of this season's Wicklow Cup with a 3-1 success away at St. Peter's Boys. Town started brightly but found themselves a goal down inside the first ten minutes. James Larkin was at full stretch to deal with an in-swinging cross, and he was unfortunate when misdirecting his headed clearance into Town's net. Town though were back on even terms shortly afterwards due to a fine solo effort from Anthony Kenny, when he dribbled past five players and rounded the keeper to make it one apiece. Town had the better of the first half but couldn't add to a brilliant first half display. The second half started just as the first half did, with the Town having the lion's share of possession. Town didn't get the breakthrough until the 75th minute when Anthony Kenny broke down the left and his cross into the middle took a couple of ricochets before hitting Willie Kavanagh and he bundled the ball into the net. From there on Arklow never looked like surrendering their lead and it wasn't long before Arklow broke again and when Willie Kavanagh found himself 20 yards from goal he drilled the ball into the far corner of the net to make it 3-1 to the Town.
