A hat-trick from RYAN McGOWAN this evening gave the Arklow Town FC Under-13B team a 3-1 victory over Wolfe Tone C at Ballywaltrim in the WDSL U13 Division 2 Shield.

Congratulations to Barry Ryan and his U13 boys and girls on a great win.

A comprehensive 10-1 victory on Wednesday 16th May 2012 for the Arklow Town FC Under-12A team over Avonmore FC at Arklow Community College in the WDSL U12 Premier Shield.

On the scoresheet tonight for The Town were TOM SOMERS (4), SHANE KEENAN (2), LIAM COLEMAN, MATTHEW DEMPSEY, KIAN BOLGER and NATHAN CULLEN.

The WDSL have announced details of the U-10 and U-11 Premier Shield Final fixtures as follows:

The U-10 Premier Shield Final between Arklow Town FC A and Roundwood will take place at Woodlands, Greystones on Sunday May 20th at 11.00am.

The U-11 Premier Shield Final will take place on the same date with a midday kick-off however full details have yet to be advised. The final will feature either Arklow Town FC -v- Wicklow Rovers at Woodlands or Arklow Town FC -v- Greystones United at Ashford National School.

Following a scoreless draw in the first-leg semi-final play-off last Friday night, Sheffield United had home advantage on Monday night (14th May 2012) for the second-leg against Stevenage in front of a crowd in excess of 21,000.

The great news came for the Blades in the form of Chris Porter’s late header which sealed a first ever victory over Stevenage – and more importantly, a chance of promotion.

Preparations now turn to the finale at Wembley on Saturday 26th May 2012 when Sheffield United could be 90 minutes from an immediate return to the Championship

Congratulations to the Wexford Youths U-18 squad which won the FAI Youth Cup 2012 on Saturday 12th May 2012 at Ferrycarrig Park beating Mount Merrion FC 2-1 after extra time. Chris Fenner and Gary Delaney scored the all-important goals for the Youths.

Bray Wanderers came away from Oriel Park with all three points last Friday after a comfortable 2-0 win over Dundalk in the Airtricity League Premier Division. ADAM HANLON was in action early in the game when he got in behind the home defence however he dragged his shot wide. Dundalk had a couple of penalty appeals turned down in the first half and to add insult to injury the visitors were awarded a spot kick five minutes from the break when Jason Byrne was fouled in the box. Byrne stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way. 1-0 to the Seagulls at half time. The visitors were on top for most of the second period and doubled the score on 73 minutes when Jason Byrne scored his second from the penalty spot after a foul on Kieran Marty Waters. JONATHAN KELTY was on the bench.

No such good news however for DANNY LEDWITH and UCD AFC as they fell to a 2-0 defeat by Shelbourne at the UCD Bowl. The visitors had a great start when they scored from the kick off following a lapse in concentration in the UCD defence. Shelbourne were reduced to ten men in the thirteenth minute however despite UCD having long spells of possession, they were unable to penetrate the visitors defence and fell further behind when Shelbourne doubled their lead on 65 minutes.

At Dalymount Park there was no place on the teamsheet for ANDY MULLIGAN as Bohemians played out a 1-1 draw with Drogheda United.

In the Airtricity League First Division, Wexford Youths had a great 3-0 win at Ferrycarrig Park over Finn Harps. JAMES SCALLAN came on after 46 minutes to replace C J Browne.
